What is the ruling on disseminating websites that contain distortions of the Qur’an or insults to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, under the pretext of warning against them or attempting to shut them them down?

Publishing blasphemous articles with the intent of refuting them, warning against them, responding to them, and clarifying the creed of their proponents is not forbidden by Islamic law. This is a practice that scholars, ancient and modern, have adopted to refute such ideas and combat their proponents, as seen in the books of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah when he mentions the proponents of these articles, such as Ibn Arabi al-Ta'i, Ibn al-Farid, Ibn Sab'in, and others.

However, publishing them without warning against them and clarifying their wickedness and misguidance is a wrong action because it leads to corrupting people's beliefs and misleading them. It is obligatory upon whoever is able to refute them, warn against them, advise them, and reform them.
