Must the deferred dower be paid to the wife upon her divorce if she is disobedient (nashiz), ill-tempered, and verbally abusive towards her husband and his parents?

The wife must return to her husband's home and leave the job he disapproves of, especially if it requires her to spend nights away from home. The husband, in turn, must provide maintenance, clothing, and housing according to what is customary. If the wife obeys, then all is well; otherwise, she is disobedient (nashiz) and has no right to maintenance. As for the deferred dower (mu'akhkhar al-sadaq), it is not forfeited by disobedience (nushuz), and the husband is obligated to pay it when its due date arrives. The husband may request its forfeiture in exchange for divorce (khul').
