There is no harm in asking about such matters, but refraining from doing so is better, because ignorance of them does not cause harm, nor does knowledge of them lead to action. A person is commanded to ask about what benefits them. The silence of the Lawgiver regarding the reason for this indicates that we would not benefit from knowing it, for Allah has not left any good without guiding to it, nor any evil without warning against it. It is sufficient that the Companions did not ask about this.
