Does a divorce pronounced by a husband at the peak of his anger, after his wife threatened to kill herself if he did not divorce her, take effect? And does this divorce take effect if it occurred during a period of purity in which he had intercourse with her?

It was previously favored that no divorce occurs from a man whose wife threatened to kill herself, and he divorced her, if he predominantly believed she would carry out her threat, as this falls under duress. Accordingly, if the husband divorced his wife because he predominantly believed she would kill herself if he did not divorce her, then his divorce is not effective. As for divorce occurring during a period of purity in which intercourse took place, this is the view of the majority of scholars and is the fatwa given.
