Is there anything in the Sunnah that necessitates covering the head when entering the lavatory for men and women?
There is no authentic narration from the Prophet (peace be upon him) indicating that he covered his head upon entering the lavatory. However, it is authentically reported that some of the predecessors, such as Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and Ibn Tawus, did so out of shyness before Allah. Some jurists have deemed it desirable to cover the head when relieving oneself, considering it among the excellent manners, but it is not obligatory. There is no blame upon whoever chooses not to do so.
