The question

Does the obsessive-compulsive disorder you suffer from regarding prayer, the number of rak'ahs, tasbihs, ablution (wudu), urinary incontinence, and discharge, necessitate repeating actions or adding to them? What is the meaning of "certainty" (yaqin) in the context of OCD? Is she required to purify herself (taharah) and perform ablution after the time for prayer has begun, despite the hardship involved? And what is the way to ensure the purity of clothes?

The answer

The only cure for obsessive whispers (waswas) is to ignore them and turn away from them. There is no blame upon you for adopting the easiest of opinions as long as you are afflicted by them. So, there is no harm in performing ablution (wudu') before the prayer time begins, and it is not invalidated by the expiration of the time. Vaginal discharges are pure and do not necessitate ' (washing after relieving oneself). The religion of Allah is ease, so do not enter the toilet except out of necessity, and do not linger in it. When performing istinja', pour water until you are reasonably certain that the impurity has been removed. When you perform ablution, do not exceed three washings for any limb, and do not pay attention to the whispers. When you pray, do not pay attention to doubts. If you doubt the recitation, assume you have recited. If you doubt the prostration, consider it two prostrations. If you doubt the number of rak'ahs, build upon the larger number, and do not perform the prostration of forgetfulness ( as-sahw) after the prayer. Do this for all obsessive whispers.
