What is our position regarding someone who is jealous of us, and is the love of fame blameworthy in Islam?

The Islamic stance towards a Muslim who displays signs of envy or malice is to repel [evil] with what is better. Allah commanded us to respond to evil with good, so that the wrongdoer may return to loyalty. This includes fulfilling their needs and forgiving them. Ibn Abbas stated that the intention is to be patient when angry, forbearing when ignorant, and forgiving when wronged. It must be known that love of fame is blameworthy, for Allah Almighty said: "That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous." And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever wears a garment of fame, Allah Almighty will clothe him with a similar garment on the Day of Resurrection, then ignite fire in it."
