What is the ruling on eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are not permissible except out of necessity, because they fall under the category of hair extensions (Al-Wasl) which is forbidden by Islamic law. Cosmetic procedures that aim solely for beautification and aesthetic enhancement are prohibited.
