It is disliked to follow a funeral with fire, and this is the opinion of the majority of scholars, due to the prohibitions reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions regarding it, and because it is a practice of Jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic era of ignorance) and Christians. It also contains a bad omen, extravagance, and waste of money. Smoking may fall under this category for the reasons mentioned.
