What is the ruling on a wife refusing intimacy with her husband who accuses her of adultery, curses her, insults her, and expels her from the home, and what should be done in this situation?

We ask Allah to grant you relief and a way out, and to grant you patience in this affliction. This world is a place of trial, through which Allah raises ranks and expiates sins. Accusations against one's honor and chastity are a great affliction. Allah has called slander "Al-Ifk" (the great lie) and "Al-Buhtan Al-Azim" (a monstrous falsehood), and He revealed verses regarding this concerning the Mother of the Believers, Aisha, and Mary, peace be upon them, to ease your burden.

As for the husband, he must fear Allah and not accuse his wife of that from which she is innocent. Slandering chaste believing women is among the gravest sins. He must treat her with kindness, especially since she spent her youth serving him and his children. What he is doing is not from loyalty and keeping covenants, which are part of faith.

The husband must respect his wife and children, who are pained by their mother being insulted and driven away. Problems are not solved by insults and curses. There is a lawful way to deal with a wife if she commits "Nushuz" (disobedience).

We remind the sister that it is not permissible for her to refuse her husband's bed. She must fulfill her duty and ask Allah Almighty and resort to Him. She may also refer her matter to whoever can secure her rights from her husband.
