What is the method for treating a wife possessed by a jinn when ruqyah is ineffective, and do jinn harm those who try to harm them?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A Muslim woman afflicted by jinn possession should increase her acts of obedience, recite the Qur'an, and perform the morning, evening, sleep, and food adhkar (remembrances), while purifying her home from things that attract devils. She should also turn to Allah through supplication, seeking forgiveness, and performing ruqyah shar'iyyah (Islamic exorcism).

It is not permissible to harm the jinn except to repel their aggression, and they must be warned before being killed, because killing them unjustly is not allowed.

The harm inflicted by jinn upon humans can be due to the jinn's love for the afflicted person, or humans harming the jinn, or mere mischief. All of this only occurs by Allah's permission.

Whoever wishes to perform ruqyah on a person afflicted by jinn possession should adhere to justice, not wrong the jinn, and fortify himself with al-ʿawadh (protective supplications) and adhkar, for he is a mujahid (striver) in the way of Allah.
