What should a Muslim do if abstaining from kissing and embracing leads to a greater evil, such as alienation, suspicion, and aversion from the religion, and how should a Muslim who loves the Sunnah act when an action results in harm?

A Muslim must adhere to the boundaries set by Allah. Scholars have differed regarding embracing and kissing among individuals of the same gender. Some have permitted it with dislike (makrooh), some have permitted it without dislike, and some have even recommended it for someone returning from a journey. However, between non-mahram men and women, it is forbidden.

If the embracing and kissing are between individuals of the same gender, there is no harm in it if refraining from it would lead to a harm such as a severance of ties or suspicion, because performing a disliked act does not result in punishment, and because adopting the opinion of those who permit it becomes necessary in such a situation.

As for embracing between men and women who are mahram, there is no harm in it if it adheres to the Islamic guidelines.

However, embracing and kissing between non-mahram men and women is a great corruption and an act of disobedience to Allah the Almighty. It is inconceivable that refraining from it would result in a greater harm, and "there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator."
