I dislike Ramadan, yet I fast during it; am I sinful for that?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Completeness of faith requires loving obedience and conformity of desires to the Sacred Law. Natural aversion to some acts of worship, like fasting, is not forbidden. Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that fasting restrains the soul from desires, moderates its carnal power, reminds one of the poverty of the destitute, narrows the passageways of Satan, protects the limbs, and purifies the heart. Fasting is a secret between the servant and his Lord; it is a shield and an act of piety, and it has an astonishing effect in protecting the limbs, inner faculties, and their health.
