What is the ruling on family members and relatives gathering to perform what is called "Dardadat al-Najah" (Prayer of Salvation), where they follow the Imam in praying upon the Prophet, glorifying Allah, and chanting, while placing dates and water for touching and eating? And do they achieve salvation through this action, if it is sound?

The aforementioned "Salat al-Najat" (prayer of salvation) and the gathering are an innovated bid'ah (religious innovation). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not perform it nor did he guide to it, and it has no basis in Islamic law. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against innovations, saying: "Beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented matter is a bid'ah, and every bid'ah is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire." These innovations do not lead to salvation but rather to destruction. It is advised to try and convince your parents that it is an innovation that must be abandoned, and that salvation lies in following the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking help from Allah, and consulting some of the people of knowledge.
