Is it permissible to supplicate with Qur’anic supplications during prostration, or is this considered part of the forbidden recitation of the Qur’an?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade reciting the Qur’an during bowing (ruku’) and prostration (sujud), and scholars have unanimously agreed on the reprehensibility of doing so. The wisdom behind this prohibition is that standing (qiyam) is the best of the pillars of prayer, and the Qur’an is the best of remembrances (adhkar). Thus, the best remembrance is assigned to the best position. Furthermore, because the Qur’an is the noblest of speech, and the states of bowing and prostration are postures of humility and lowliness, it is out of reverence not to recite the word of Allah in them.

Nevertheless, if a worshipper supplicates during prostration with a supplication mentioned in the Noble Qur’an, such as His Almighty’s saying: (Our Lord, grant us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire), there is no harm in that, provided the intention is supplication and not Qur’an recitation, for actions are judged by their intentions.
