What is the ruling in Islam regarding an illiterate man who collects garbage and eats from it, hoards money, causes his house to be filled with filth, goes to the mosque with a foul odor, and refuses advice, knowing that he harms his family with this behavior?

A father must be a good role model for his children. If he is not, then all means should be exhausted with wisdom and patience to prevent him from what he is doing, through good speech and warning him of the dire consequences, drawing his attention to the well-being of his children, and seeking help from righteous people. This should be accompanied by continuous supplication for his rectification. Children must honor him and bear his harm. If they are harmed, there is no sin upon those who are able to marry and become independent, or to share an independent house that keeps them away from harm.
