A man is responsible for his household and accountable for those under his care. He is sinful and unjust if he neglects their rights, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is sufficient sin for a man to neglect those he is responsible to support" and "It is sufficient sin for a man to withhold from those whose sustenance he possesses." If a father does not neglect the rights of his children and some of his children fulfill their duties, then there is no blame upon the father. The son who takes care of the household's needs is a doer of good and rewarded, and that is among the best of deeds.
