Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The Companion in question is Khubayb ibn Adiy ibn Malik al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him. He was nicknamed "Swallowed by the Earth" because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent al-Miqdad and al-Zubayr to take him down from his crucifixion. When the polytheists caught up with them, al-Zubayr threw him, and the earth swallowed him.
