The Salaf did not speak about taking the praise of the Prophet as a profession. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen holds that taking the praise of the Prophet as a profession to earn money is unlawful, because praise is an act of worship, and an act of worship should not be taken as a means for worldly gain. As for praising the Prophet, it is divided into two categories: permissible, which is praising him with what he deserves without exaggeration; and unlawful, which is praising him with exaggeration, such as attributing knowledge of the unseen to him. This may even reach the level of major .
