Does drinking the miswak delay menstruation, and did women in the time of the Messenger drink it to delay it for the sake of Hajj and Umrah?
If the intention is to drink arak water, some of the Salaf (early Muslims) prescribed it for those whose menstrual bleeding was prolonged, and Ibn 'Umar saw no harm in it. As for delaying the menstrual cycle, specialists should be consulted regarding that. It has not been reported that the women in the era of the Messenger of Allah used to drink it for this purpose; rather, he (peace be upon him) would say to them: "This is a matter that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so perform what a pilgrim performs, except that you should not circumambulate the House." There is no harm in using medicine to delay menstruation for permissible purposes such as Hajj, Umrah, and fasting, provided that it does not cause harm.
