How is zakat calculated on agricultural produce if part of it could not be harvested or another part of it spoiled in the market?

The zakat on crops and fruits must be paid from the harvested produce itself immediately after its harvest or picking. Zakat is not waived if the produce is damaged after it became due, especially if this damage was due to the owner's negligence. If the crop could not be harvested and spoiled, then there is no liability for its zakat if there was no negligence. However, if it was harvested but could not be gathered in one place, and there are eligible recipients of zakat, the owner must guarantee its zakat by inviting the eligible recipients to take it.
