How is inheritance distributed among three brothers and one daughter?

If a man dies and leaves behind one daughter and three full brothers, then the daughter receives one-half as a prescribed share, according to the Almighty’s saying: "And if there is only one, she will have half." The remainder goes to the brothers by ta’sib (residuary inheritance), divided equally among them, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and whatever remains is for the closest male relative." Thus, the inheritance is divided into six shares: the daughter receives half of it, and each brother receives one share. It must be noted that matters of inheritance are critical and complex, and one should not be content with merely a fatwa. Instead, they must be referred to Sharia courts for investigation and to ensure there are no wills, debts, or other rights that take precedence over the heirs’ rights.
