Is it permissible to terrify an elderly parent with memory loss using imaginary things to prevent them from leaving the house and to ensure their safety?

It is impermissible to terrorize the father with imaginary things, as it involves conveying information contrary to reality, which is a lie and is not permissible except in cases of necessity. Terrorizing him in this manner is not permissible Islamically and contradicts the dutifulness to and kind treatment of the father; it contains a type of disobedience. Other means can be used, such as closing the door and staying with him, or using allusions (tawriya) in speech to avoid lying. For example, saying "Going out is unsafe," intending the fear of car accidents. We advise dutifulness to the father, kind treatment of him, and patience with him, for he is a path to Paradise.
