Allah commanded the Muslims to emigrate to Medina after the persecution by Quraish intensified. The first emigrants to Medina were Mus'ab ibn Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum. The Prophet, peace be upon him, emigrated with Abu Bakr al-Siddiq after they stayed for three nights in the Cave of Thawr. Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr would bring them news, and Amir ibn Fuhayrah would bring them sheep. They hired a skilled non-Muslim guide, who led them along the coastal route. Suraqa ibn Malik pursued the Prophet and Abu Bakr, but his horse sank into the ground, so he realized that the Prophet's cause would prevail, and he asked him for a letter of security. Upon their arrival, the people of Medina were awaiting them. The Prophet, peace be upon him, stayed with Banu Amr ibn Awf, then he purchased a plot of land from them and built the Prophet's Mosque. The narrative refutes the skeptics by stating that the Prophet and Abu Bakr had given their riding camels to the guide, so they were not with them in the cave.
