What is the remedy for a father's cigarette trade, and how can corrupt money be rectified? Money earned from trading in tobacco is unlawful money that must be disposed of by spending it on charitable causes. However, if the earner was a disbeliever and then embraced Islam, some scholars are of the opinion that it becomes permissible for him to benefit from it, while others believe it is obligatory to donate it.

If a Muslim dies and leaves behind unlawfully acquired money, the fatwa (definition) we follow is that the heirs may not benefit from it.

If a disbeliever dies, a Muslim does not inherit from him, even if the money was lawful, due to the absence of inheritance between a Muslim and a disbeliever.
