Al-Qa'qa' ibn Amr al-Tamimi was a revered Companion whom Abu Bakr described as being better than a thousand men. No army in which he fought was ever defeated. During the conquest of Mada'in, he seized the shields and sword of the Persian Emperor (Kisra). His battalion was known as "Al-Kharsa'" (The Mute). Umar sent him as reinforcement to Sa'd, who mentioned that Al-Qa'qa' led thirty raids in a single day, killing Persian knights in each raid. He resided in Kufa and passed away there.
