Is the soul returned to the deceased every afternoon? Is visiting graves on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays better? Does the deceased know the circumstances of their family in this world? How does supplication benefit the deceased at the grave? Does reciting the Qur’an at the grave benefit the deceased?

The souls of the living meet with the souls of the dead after they are taken (by Allah), and the dead ask the newcomers about the state of the living. The souls of the dead gather, with the higher descending to the lower. The soul watches over the grave and may sometimes be returned to the lahd (niche in the grave). The deceased knows who visits him. As for the return of the soul to the deceased after every 'Asr (afternoon) prayer, there is no evidence for it. The soul of the deceased is returned to him when questioned in the grave. It is not permissible to specify certain days for visiting graves; rather, they should be visited whenever it is convenient. It is recommended to supplicate for the deceased after he is placed in the grave and to ask for steadfastness for him. It has not been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that the Qur'an should be recited at the grave, and the majority of scholars disliked this.
