Reciting the Quran collectively and studying its meanings is among the best acts of devotion. However, reciting the Quran collectively for a fee is an innovation (bid'ah), yields no reward, and it is not permissible to participate in it. But if a person wishes to recite the Quran and dedicate its reward to their deceased, they are permitted to do so.
