It is not permissible for a woman to touch a man who is a stranger to her, except out of necessity or need, such as the unavailability of a male doctor. In this case, it is permissible for her, and may even be obligatory, to treat the man to save a Muslim life. This act is an obedience and a cause for a great promise from Allah if she intends thereby the Face of Allah, in accordance with His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever saves a life - it is as though he had saved all of mankind."
