What is the interpretation of the phenomenon of a person recalling present situations as if they happened in the past with the same people, and to what extent is it related to the Hadith: "Souls are conscripted soldiers"?

It might be mere imagination, or a result of compatibility between people, which explains the Hadith: "Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognize, they get along with, and those whom they do not recognize, they differ with."
