Is it permissible, in Sharia, to name a newborn "Robin," and is it a Muslim name?

The origin of the word "Robin" has not been found in Arabic sources. Al-Azhari mentioned in "Tahdhib al-Lughah" that it is Persian and means "madder." In other dictionaries, it is found with the spelling "Ruwainah." Some speakers believe that the name Robin means ruby or bright moonlight, but there is no evidence for this. It is more likely that the name is foreign and imported. One should not name with it unless its meaning is known, as it might carry a bad meaning or contradict religion and morals. It is better to name with well-known good names.
