Is it true that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, enjoined oiling the head and that it is from the noble Sunnah?

It has been established that the Prophet (peace be upon him) oiled his head and enjoined the honoring and oiling of hair. Some scholars have considered this to be a Sunnah. Among the narrations in this regard are: "Eat oil and anoint yourselves with it, for it comes from a blessed tree," and the hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah regarding the Prophet’s gray hairs: "When he oiled his head, they were not seen, but when he did not oil it, they were seen," and the hadith of Abu Hurayrah: "Whoever has hair, let him honor it," meaning, let him adorn and clean it. There are other weak hadiths that convey the same meaning. It is recommended to oil the hair intermittently (from time to time) according to need.
