What is 'ismah (infallibility/protection from sin) in marriage, and is it permissible for it to be in the wife's hands?

'Ismah' in marriage refers to the marriage knot and the marital bond, which is in the hand of the husband. The condition that it be in the hand of the wife is invalid, because it contradicts the essence of the contract. However, the husband's delegation or authorization to the wife or another person to divorce her after the marriage contract is permissible according to the majority of scholars.
