Is a man obligated to impose the hijab on his wife and daughters? And is he sinful if his wife does not adhere to the hijab? And does the marriage remain valid, or should he be more patient for fear that she might stray from the religion if he leaves her?

Sins do not affect the marital relationship, with the exception of apostasy from Islam. As for a wife abandoning the hijab – uncovering what is unanimously agreed upon as obligatory to cover – it is forbidden by scholarly consensus. One must strive to convince her of it, acting upon the verse: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire." One must be keen on guiding her and convincing her of the hijab through supplication, strengthening her faith, encouraging her, warning her, and listening to beneficial tapes. If she uncovers her face and palms, the matter is easier due to the difference of opinion among scholars.
