If a man commits adultery with a married woman and she becomes pregnant by him, is the child attributed to the fornicator or to the husband? And is the husband permitted to disavow him? What is the ruling on the lineage of the child if the married fornicator is stoned or the unmarried fornicator is scourged?

The two fornicators must offer sincere repentance and avoid anything that leads to zina (adultery/fornication). Zina with a married woman is a greater crime. The child is attributed to the husband, the master of the bed, and his lineage is not denied except through li'an (oath of condemnation). If the husband is certain that the child is not his, he must deny his lineage through li'an. One should be cautious about leniency in allowing men to enter upon women and to be in seclusion with them.
