What is meant by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying in the Hadith: "No one before him preceded him, and no one after him will catch up with him, except for one who does a deed better than his deed"? And what is the deed better than saying: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things competent" two hundred times?

The interpretation of the noble Hadith, "No one before him preceded him, and no one after him will catch up to him," is that it refers to the temporal superiority of the one who performs dhikr (remembrance of Allah) over those who came before him or after him in doing good deeds. As for the phrase, "except for one who does better than his deed," it is understood that whoever exceeds the mentioned number of tasbih (glorification of Allah) or good deeds in general will receive additional reward. This differs from increasing specific acts of worship such as prayer and ablution. Dhikr is considered one of the best and highest-ranking deeds, and the purest in the sight of Allah. It is better than charity, fasting, and jihad, and it saves one from Allah's punishment.
