Is the saying "If you knew the unseen, you would choose reality" authentic, and is it a Hadith?

The saying "If you knew the unseen, you would choose the reality" is neither a Prophetic Hadith nor a common adage. It is false and clashes with human nature's inclination to seek good and repel evil. If a person knew what harm would befall them, they would not proceed with it. This phrase claims that what befalls a person is the lesser of two evils, which is a statement made without knowledge, rather it is closer to having a bad opinion of Allah.

Furthermore, the verse: ﴿Say, "I hold no power [even] over myself to cause benefit or harm, except as Allah wills. If I had knowledge of the unseen, I would have acquired much good, and no evil would have touched me. I am only a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."﴾ [Al-A'raf/188] indicates its falsehood. For if the Prophet, peace be upon him, had knowledge of the unseen, he would have averted harm from himself and acquired much good, which is evidence of his lack of knowledge of the unseen. This shows that a person's ignorance of the unseen may lead to missing out on good or being afflicted with harm.
