Who are the Seven Jurists?

The Seven Jurists are seven of the jurists of Medina during the era of the Tabi'in (successors), who were contemporaries. Most scholars agreed on six of them: Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah ibn Mas'ud, Kharijah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit, and Sulayman ibn Yasar. As for the seventh, there are three differing opinions: Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf (which is the most common view), or Salim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, or Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham al-Makhzumi.
