What is the method for annulment of marriage (faskh al-nikah), and is it a condition to utter the divorce (talaq) pronouncement when annulling the marriage?

The dissolution of marriage (faskh) does not require the husband to utter the word divorce. Dissolution occurs either by a ruling of the Sacred Law (such as through fosterage/nursing or apostasy), or by a ruling of a judge (such as in cases of defects or insolvency), or by mutual agreement of the spouses in the case of khulʿ (for those who consider it a dissolution). The spouses do not have the right to dissolve the marriage by mutual agreement in cases other than khulʿ. Furthermore, khulʿ without compensation is not permissible if it is considered a dissolution by the agreement of jurists.
