Is it permissible for a wife to consider her poor husband's financial assistance as part of her zakat?

A wife is permitted to give her zakat to her poor husband if his income is insufficient for him and his family. A poor person is defined as someone who cannot secure enough for himself and his family for a year. It should be noted that financial support (nafqa) is obligatory upon the father for his children, and this obligation transfers to the mother if the father is unable to provide. In such a case, the mother is not allowed to give her zakat to her children. Regarding education, there are two opinions on its obligatoriness. If it is deemed obligatory, then what the mother spends on it does not count as zakat. It is permissible to give zakat to a diligent student of knowledge who is engaged in studying knowledge that Muslims need, provided he cannot combine seeking knowledge with earning a livelihood. The wife must intend it as zakat when giving it to her husband or children.
