Is adhering to reading the Qur'an or absolute dhikr on the way to and from the mosque, with the ability to read more than a quarter [juz'], considered an innovation?

Reciting the Quran or engaging in dhikr (remembrance of Allah) on the way to the mosque is not an innovation (bid'ah); rather, it is a good deed. The remembrance of Allah is enjoined in all circumstances, and a servant is rewarded for it. It is better than remaining silent. An act is judged to be an innovation if one believes it possesses a specific virtue and it is made to resemble an act of worship prescribed by the Sharia.
