What is the ruling regarding a father's discontinuation of prayer and remembrance of Allah after suffering two strokes that cost him his sight and paralyzed his hand, and is it permissible for others to supplicate for him, pray, and gift him the reward of their prayers?

If the ترك of prayer and dhikr is due to the absence of intellect and loss of consciousness, then sin is lifted from him due to the absence of accountability, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The pen has been lifted from three: from the insane person whose mind is overcome until he recovers." And he is credited with the reward of the righteous deeds he used to do in his health, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a servant falls ill or travels, he is credited with the like of what he used to do when he was resident and healthy." However, if he abandons that while fully conscious, he is in disobedience and sin, and no one is permitted to pray on his behalf in either case.
