What is the reason for the difference in the writing of the Holy Qur’an in a script that differs from the current script?

The Holy Quran is written in the Uthmani script, which the Companions unanimously agreed upon during the time of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). This script is characterized by special rules that indicate different readings, such as the writing of "Maliki Yawm al-Din" to accommodate both readings: "Maaliki" (Master) and "Maliki" (King), and the writing of "al-Kuffar" in His (Allah's) saying: {And the disbelievers will soon know for whom is the final abode} to accommodate both readings: "al-Kuffar" (the disbelievers - plural) and "al-Kafir" (the disbeliever - singular). If the Quran were written according to the changing modern spelling rules, changes would be introduced to it. Hence, scholars have unanimously agreed on the obligation of adhering to the Uthmani script.
