Is it permissible for a man to have sexual intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan?

The fast of Ramadan is a great pillar, and its two pillars are: intention and abstaining from food, drink, and desires. Whoever intentionally engages in sexual intercourse during the day in Ramadan has violated the sanctity of the month and committed a clear sin. He is required to make up for the missed day (qada’) and offer a severe expiation (kaffara), which is fasting for two consecutive months. If he is unable to do so, then he must feed sixty poor people. The woman is also required to make up for the missed day and offer expiation if she was compliant.
