What do you say about a man who is prevented from sexual intercourse on a Ramadan night?

Sexual intercourse during the nights of Ramadan is permissible, just like eating and drinking, as evidenced by the Holy Quran and the consensus of Muslims. Allah Almighty says: {It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]} [Al-Baqarah: 187].

Therefore, whoever believes that sexual intercourse is forbidden during the nights of fasting and issues a fatwa to that effect is in grave danger due to his opposition to the clear text of the Quran, and he must repent. If he prohibits it on the basis of preferability rather than prohibition, the matter is less severe, but it is not without error, as sexual intercourse is permissible, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions did not refrain from it, except for those in I'tikaf.

Sexual intercourse with one's wife during the nights of fasting may serve a strong benefit, and with a righteous intention, it is considered an act of proximity to Allah and obedience, as it helps in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity, seeking offspring, and achieving the objectives of marriage. As for a husband refraining from sexual intercourse with his wife, there is no harm in it as long as the wife is not harmed, because providing for her chastity is obligatory according to the husband's ability and her need.
