Is renting out a computer device used for downloading ringtones permissible or forbidden?

Listening to musical instruments and melodies is forbidden. Therefore, it is not permissible to rent or lend a computer to someone who will use it to download melodies, due to the generality of Allah's saying: (And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression), and the jurists' ruling on the prohibition of selling or renting anything that aids in disobedience.
