Copyrights and intellectual property rights are Islamically preserved for their owners. It is impermissible to infringe upon them by copying or other means, except with their permission. This includes programs of the Holy Quran and poetry books. Some scholars hold the view that it is permissible to download programs and copy books for personal use, provided no financial gain is involved.
