Is what is meant by "lamps" in His (the Most High) saying, "And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with lamps and made them means to stone the devils," the stars or the meteors and meteorites, and how can a star be used to stone devils?

The lamps (المصابيح) mentioned in the Holy Quran refer to the stars that Allah created as an adornment for the sky, as signs by which people are guided, and as projectiles against devils. The stars themselves do not vanish or are thrown; rather, fiery meteors (شهب) emerge from them and strike the devils, as stated in the Almighty's words: (Except him who snatches a snatch — then he is pursued by a piercing flame) [Quran 37:10]. And as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified, the meteor overtakes and burns the eavesdropping devils. Scholars have interpreted "rajum" (projectiles) to mean the meteors that emerge from the stars, not the stars themselves.
