The answer

It is not permissible to listen to musical instruments in prophetic eulogies or otherwise, due to the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in Sahih Al-Bukhari: "There will be among my Ummah people who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, alcoholic drinks, and musical instruments as lawful." The four Imams and the majority of scholars have agreed on the prohibition of musical instruments and amusement. The Imams have denounced the audition (sama') that included good poems when they were mixed with musical instruments. Shaykh al-Islam mentioned that the senior shaykhs did not attend this type of sama', and that the sama' innovated by the heretics did not involve gathering with effeminate men and women, nor with jangling instruments and flutes, and their poems were ascetic. The sama' that contains religious abominations is not considered an act of closeness to Allah. It is not permissible to listen to poems broadcast on channels due to their inclusion of musical instruments, and one must be wary of exaggeration in praising the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, because he forbade it to block the means to exaggeration concerning his person, and many poems are not free from this exaggeration.
