The answer

Zakat is obligatory upon a Muslim if they possess a complete nisab (minimum threshold) and a hawl (one lunar year) has passed on it. For zakat on saved salary, the zakat payer has two options: The first is to assign a separate hawl for each salary, and pay zakat on it when it reaches the nisab on its own or combined with other funds. The second, which is easier and more beneficial for the poor, is to pay zakat on all saved money when one hawl has passed on the first nisab they acquired. Zakat is calculated based on the Hijri year, and the nisab for banknotes is the equivalent of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver. The amount due for payment is one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%).
